North Country Blues

Come gather round friends
And I’ll tell you a tale
Of when the red iron pits ran plenty
But the cardboard filled windows
And old men on the benches
Tell you now that the whole town is empty

In the north end of town
My own children are grown
But I was raised on the other
In the wee hours of youth
My mother took sick
And I was brought up by my brother

The iron ore poured
As the years passed the door
The drag lines an’ shovels they was a-humming
’Til one day my brother
Failed to come home
The same as my father before him

So the mining gates locked
And the red iron rotted
And the room smelled heavy from drinking
Where the sad, silent song
Made the hour twice as long
As I waited for the sun to go sinking

The summer is gone
The ground’s turning cold
The stores one by one they’re a-foldin’
My children will go
As soon as they grow
Well, there ain’t nothing here now to hold them

Framed Drawings

Here are some of my drawings for the exhibition in their vintage frames, it was really nice to have these, as so much of my work has been digital in the last few months

Let them not weep, let them know that I'm glad to go, Death is no dream, for in death I'm caressing you

Little White flowers will never awaken you, not where the Black coach of Sorrow has taken you

Exhibition

My Final exhibition has now been and gone. It went really well, my work went down really well and I won the 'Syliva Dowsett memorial award for Illustration" which was a lovely surprise and a bonus, here I am with my display, not the best quality photo but my camera doesn't do well in low light

Tintype

I made my own tintype image of a little girl, I think it came out pretty well, I am so obsessed with tinting at the moment. I just want to tint everything, but I think it works pretty well in these Vintage pictures i've been doing

Another great birthday present

Some people just know me so well, that when they go into an abandoned house, where the previous occupant commited suicide and have a root around, they immediately think of me upon finding, a very disturbing, flaking, dirty painting of a baby, that they bring it home and give it to me for my birthday! My brother is pretty cool.
I think I'm going to be able to get some pretty sick textures from this one for some art work, really excited
This present beats a pair of socks or a candle any day!

Birthday gift

Well my parents got me a pretty special birthday present today, a totally stunning postmortem photograph, 13 by 17 inches, so its pretty huge. going to get it framed and up on my wall :)
